It includes personal notes, writings, thoughts, toolkits, and reflections across multiple papers and dimensions. &nbsp;The outcome includes a physical copy and a website that provides the public with free access.Wen-Li had invited visual artists and educators to share their stories and work, emphasizing social justice in the processes of making, healing, and building awareness and resilience. She hosted an event at Black Garnet Bookstore during the summer of 2026. The guest speakers included Ellen Mueller and Maria Reyes.&nbsp; Ellen Mueller (she/her) has exhibited nationally and internationally as an interdisciplinary artist examining how capitalist systems affect everyday life, with a particular focus on environmental issues. She received her MFA from the University of South Florida and is currently the Director of Programs at Arts Midwest.Maria Reyes (she/her) is a Racial Equity and Instructional Coach with Minneapolis Public Schools and an instructor in the University of Minnesota's teacher preparation graduate programs. Her work focuses on equity-based pedagogy, preparing future educators to foster inclusive, culturally responsive, and equitable learning environments. Wen-Li Chen is a fiscal year 2025 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. It is also an attempt to reveal some of the complexity of being Taiwanese indigenous women living in different sociocultural environments without knowing the mother tongue, yet deeply&nbsp;connected to their pride and culture, rooted in and influenced by their grandparents during their upbringing. &nbsp;During the residency at Lanesboro, I worked between the home studio and places at Lanesboro to sort out both sides of family archival photographs and materials from Lanesboro, including interviews, conversations, documentation, videos, and pictures. While sorting out those materials, being far away from family with limited reasons to be together, and reflecting on my recent life experience of being a mother, I thought about the life journey as being human from newborn to the groups until having new branches or another new beginning, the cycle between nature and us, the wholeness giving with care and love, similarity in terms of family life when we tried to document the moment that it may means something to the person that decided to take pictures of, and how to bridge the physical distance if possible.The ocean splits us into two continents far away, and the river/water connects us again while being present in front of Lanesboro Stone Dam. The memory of the past flashes back and blurs as time passes, without knowing. But the similarities in the family's love and care&nbsp;are evident when a new life comes their way. Even though the memories are blurred, the family's invisible, solid support&nbsp;continues to connect without separation, borders, or limitations. I feel grateful and privileged to be present, reflect, and express what the new life means to a new immigrant mother with a newborn in a new country.Learn more about this Murphy Gallery, 2021 #Artist Book Design #Publication Design #Book Design #Freelance This is a collaborative publication and visual design project developed with artists and writers. Focused on consistent layout systems, production coordination, and visual storytelling across print formats. The artist's book is treated as part of the object and artwork, mirroring and responding to the visual artist's concept of installation at the exhibition, the environment, the site, the book title, and the poetry of two female poets. It also opens up free visual interpretation from a graphic design perspective, allowing experimentation with form, format, color, graphic components and elements, and the final representation, extending the possibilities of elements being held/contained across different media, spaces/platforms. There are three parts to the book that create the feel of small, silky smoke rising from the thick, heavy ashes beneath the burning. The middle part of the book seeks to convey the poetry's words and feelings, and the artist's images, floating together in the spaces between. You can sense it when you flip the pages and move your eyes page by page. The work can be seen as a collective dialogue among the artist, designer, and poet, presented as a book and carried around during or after the exhibition, as it is and continues to transcend the concept of the artist initially. There'll be 250 free copies of the books available for collection during the exhibition, and attendees can carry them as they walk through the work. Or they can take it home to refresh or recreate the afterimage formed after reviewing the exhibition. The impact of visual reading will continue once they leave the site. Photography #Freelance This project is a collaboration with Twin Cities-based visual artist Charles Matson Lume and writer Andy Sturdevant to design an artist book. Building on the methods employed by the artist and writer, the design utilizes art documentation (of exhibitions and in-process studio work), site documentation, travel imagery, material studies, and book-specific interactivity. This results in an artist's book that is more than a monograph or catalog but instead&nbsp;a work of art, complete with various kinds of folding, cutting, and material choices. The book is limited to 100 copies. Direction#Logo Design #FreelanceThis project is the online exhibition preview platform for artists Fiona Burke and Mazia Rossi. It is a digital offline E-catalog for an exhibition at David Dale Gallery &amp; Studio. The task was to reproduce the sense of moving through the exhibition while simultaneously providing information about the artwork and curatorial direction. To achieve this level of immersion and knowledge, I stitched together digital images to create a 360-degree view of the entire space. The key element of the visual design is derived from the artist's concept and parts of the&nbsp;exhibition installation. The idea of the series of postcards being spread around in the space with the artist's facial profile is to respond to the artist's intentions about how a Westerner is situated in the East in public, with the closest eye contact, in a way that is close to being individual, without any makeup in&nbsp;reality.
