bypassing is inspired by my personal experience of being an immigrant based on marriage, and the poem "Alone" by Maya Angelou. This photo essay is a microscope on an individual's life, without a sense of belonging, drifting between nations without communities.

Wen-Li Chen is a visual communication designer based in St. Paul, MN, with a focus on editorial design and visual identity in the cultural and arts fields. The studio’s approach is collab­ora­tive and con­ceptual, working closely with artists, cura­tors, editors, and publishers to create visual systems across print and digital media.
